Make a "Beginner Builder's Hall of Knowledge!"
This isn't necessarily a idea so much as a request for land and permission to build by the spawn. When new players come in they are going to have questions, and if they are by themselves with no one there to guide them, they might get discouraged and leave. I know part of the fun is figuring it out yourself but still, it is helpful to have SOMETHING IN-GAME (I know you made a FAQ) for beginner's to fall back on. So, Robby Z, I wish to build such a repository of knowledge in the vicinity of the spawn point. (Maybe the grass patch to the left.) I would ask you online but I know how busy you are. Please let me know if it is 'Go"----"No-Go" Thank you--Nibrudly

Sim, please consider this thread as a "COMPLETE" now that I have built Stultorum I'll serve not only as that hall of knowledge but also as the newb island.

I agree with Thanatos Hades' idea of a newb island, just without the swearing, or severe punishment for going through the wrong door. :P
If newbies had their own island to practice building on, then they wouldn't have to place blocks at random on the main area just to finish the building quest, or go all over heck trying to find a free space to build something.
There should be an area on the island with some blocks already, so they learn that they have to build on dirt and can't just place stuff on someone else's sidewalk.

Where are the two? Please explain. Also, it is not so much a "How to build and use this" sort of thing. It's more of a noob preventer in the fact that if they have a standard noob question, players can just send them there instead of re-explaining things over and over as new players come on. That was the main purpose of this idea. Not to explain building, but to give the new players BASIC information about what's going on. IE. "Why do I only have 3 hp?" "I just got trolled (block placer) What shall I do?" "This game sucks" stuff like that that, although we are more than happy to answer, gets tedious and annoying after awhile. (Especially that last one.)

Nib is on the right track but I am going to make some slight changes. I would say instead of having a building for this. Just make the tutorial more retar I mean noob friendly. 1st make the tutorial single player. 2nd put the tutorial on a small island. Then have it go through stages. 1st. stage. Simple navigation have them move though a small building of 2 floors. ( nothing too long or fancy just enough to get a feel for movement ). 2nd. stage actions. Have text writen in tiles that says "Use E to do stuff and READ THE FUCKING DIRECTIONS" Then make them have to use the action button a lot. Read some signs, open some doors, talk to npcs. 3rd. stage. Battle. Put the zombie here and make them complete 10 lawyercat quests. 4th. stage. Menu. This is where you lock them in a room and a sign that explains the menu and how respawn works. Quest. Use the menu to respawn 5 times. finishing unlocks transporter to 5th. stage.
5th. stage. How to fucking build. At this point just have a damn pop up that says "If you don't do the building tutorial... you ain't getting off this fucking island." Put the building tutorial here and make it as specific as possible make sure it explains how to open and close your inventory, how to place and pick up blocks. explain that you can only build on open land or in a city you own. how to open the shop and buy stuff, explain that you can't sell anything yet. Then give them the 5 block quest. Then give them 10 more and a door and get them to build a closed room with 1 door. Then teach them how to build a 2nd floor and give them 100 blocks. 6th. stage. lock them in a room with a wall that they have to build a way over witch puts them on the edge of the island and a sign that says "build a fucking bridge to that far off island"( have far off island that requires a fairly large bridge over pit of doom or spikes. ( have a transporter that goes to a larger island with lots of lawyercats to earn money to build a bridge if they don't have enough materials. Finally when they reach the other side have 5 doors and a sign that reads " To continue use door # ( picked at random ) All other doors transport them back to the start and remove all gained materials and gold and done quests. Then have a pop up that says "Next time read the fucking sign and follow the fucking directions." Then if they weren't a moron and did follow the directions they transport to the full game and start in a FAQ room that has books with more details about the game and more FAQs and answers. At this point if they still can't figure shit out then they shouldn't be playing.
Well that was rather enjoyable. Now back to farming for gold.

Example questions: "Where do i get gold?" "Can I pick up others blocks?" "How do I get Plat?" Stuff like that.
