Add a friends list!
I have met some pretty great people on here, and I disliked seeing them leave.
Friend list is IN! http://blog.8bitmmo.net/2013/07/friend-list/

Seeing as to how I want to be an active contributing member of the 8bitmmo community, I feel compelled to make suggestions. I definitely approve of the Friend's List, however I think that in a game like 8bitmmo you could kill a few birds with one stone. The GUI is pretty basic, perhaps you could implement a "Who's Online" list through the drop menu, in which you could signify people as "friends" through a command (/addfriend <player name>). Then you have a command-less friends list as well as a list of who's online. Maybe friends could be signified through an asterisks next to their name, or some other symbol on the list.

This is an obvious thing to add to any mmo. It should be built before the game is if you know for sure your going to make a mmo. What a friends list tells you or allows you to do is another matter. The 1st thing it should obviously do is allow you to add friends to it and remove them later for whatever reason. The next thing it should do is tell you if that person is currently online and on what server if there are multiple servers. The next thing it should tell you and I can't emphasize this enough because I hardly see it done is tell you when the last time the person has logged on was. I find it important to know when a player has been inactive for months so that its safe to take him off the list. It should show the players level. Finally selecting a player on the list will bring up various options depending and what might be put into the game. This is were you would find deleting the person from your list and chat options such as private messages maybe emotions and other things depending again what is put in the game. That about covers the friends list. It might also show if the person is the mayor or just citizen of whatever city. If name changes are allowed to prevent confusion allow for permanent nick names on your friends list or "previous names used by that player"

Notification of join/quit, private messaging, perhaps an invite to party (if party system is implemented), also perhaps make it so each message window can possibly be made into it's own messenger window
