This would be pretty awesome, assuming folks were interested…

maybe you could hold some sort of design contest for some shirts or mugs or something for some platinum
also grim, it's not as hard as you might think it doesn't cost too terribly much to contract out a shirt design he'd just need to keep a small sample to see how they sell

Could be handy

As discussed in the chat this could be a very convenient way to upgrade a building. The system could incorporate the original cost of a block. So if you designated all Cement blocks to be changed to wood you'd need the funds to upgrade the blocks 4 coins each. The system would tell you that you need x amount of gold to complete the request and you just go from there.

yeah I figured it's a nice alternative to completely disassembling a building entirely just to swap out the blocks

I can see it being useful, but there is some overlap with the town doors. I suppose this would allow more fine-grained control.

Good idea – encourage people to come back each day

1) maybe it could be based on your net worth so that players who are far along aren't getting small amounts of coins
2) It would be nice if this could be worked into earning like 1 platinum every 10 days or so you are on so that low income players who are active and supporting the game through activity can have access to features that they are otherwise barred from. -

Yeah, this would help with clutter

They had a system similar to this in Wurm Online and quite frankly it was a mess. It caused many low level players much distress because they didn't have the resources to keep repairing or keeping up their buildings. It also was an annoyance for higher level players or players who have built something they would like to be kept. You constantly had to waste resources in order to repair something that you never wanted gone. Also, if you take a break from the game for too long all your accomplishments are quite literally turned to dust.
However, I would say that there is an extreme amount of clutter especially without a way of removing blocks many are just discarded in random spots it seems making building around them impossible. Maybe only blocks outside of towns are removed, or blocks that were set by people who were only active a short while (incoming newbies of a couple days) and have not been on for several months. But for the active players, decay systems are either an extreme burden or very crippling to new players.

Good idea, and would help with database clutter. May need to make it a disposal chute instead to keep down on the total active objects in-game.

Honestly the way I see it we should be able to. There are people I just blatantly don't want in my town and shouldn't be able to. This also means that generally you need to get along with fellow players. If you annoy enough mayors with trolling or bad behavior you'll find it very difficult to get around the map when you can't pass through certain areas.
