A proper and fair support plan.
It goes without saying that game developers should get money for the games they make and that running those games costs money. However finding a balance of fairness between those who can and chose to support the game and those who can't by choice or don't have the money or means to do so isn't easy and it's almost imposable to make everyone on both sides happy.
My OPINION and suggestion on this matter.
The first thing I would be sure of is that ALL players can play the full game and get anything the game has to offer. It is really discouraging to see something you want and find out you ether can't get it ever because it was only available for a short limited time or that it costs money and you can't buy it for whatever reason. It really stings and it's a good reason for people to quit playing. This is extremely important to players such as myself. I am what one might call a completionest and collector. When I play an RPG I try to do everything possible and collect everything if able ( note to Sim make sure we get unlimited inventory space ). I also don't think that rich people should be able to buy their way to greatness and just fly through the game like its a fucking speak and spell for babies. That being said obviously those who do support the game should get some sort of recognition and of course there needs to be good reason. Most people sadly wouldn't support a game without good reason. So how do you give them something worthwhile without effecting the game play and creating an unbalance while helping sim with his rent. Here is a list of some things that could be done.
1. All players get 1 free name change. After that it costs platinum.
2. Golden aura around player. No bonuses but you would definitely get recognized.
3. Reduced or eliminated trade limits. ( as the current trade limit is 80 items total per trade. ) trade done with a game supporter isn't limited or has a much higher limit so more can be done in one trade.
4. Character emotions.
5. All players get 1 free "Total Recall" ( a personal idea ) The item or ability returns ALL the players building materials to his/her inventory from the world. ( add fail safes to prevent accidental use ) After the free one it has to be bought. ( great for noobs who get lost after building something and can't find what they built and great for those who build something really big then decide they want to move it ( only if it is 1st building )
Those are just some suggestions. Depending what is done/put into the game more/other suggestions could be made.
Now the big one. In game currency into bought currency ( in this case gold to platinum conversion. ) Obviously this is going to be continuously suggested no matter how many times it's declined so it might as well be done. Problem here is whats a fair conversion. Can't be too easy to get platinum or it won't be bought and Sim will be homeless but if it's too hard whats the point in having it. Right now all you can do is farm cats for 1 gold a drop. It takes a retarded amount of time to get even 1k so right now I don't think it's unreasonable to say 10k gold gets you 1platinum. However eventually as the game progresses that 10k might become really easy to get so what then... Assuming a level system is added the amount of gold needed to get 1platinum increases per level. Or you could give platinum though some kind of quest system that gives really really hard quests. Ok I'm done throwing ideas out here.
Sorry, as discussed before, I’m unable to offer a conversion. However, I do like your ideas for supporters.
