Decay
Some players make a mess of the world....maybe make only "Structures" persist without decay....and anything in a town of course. A "Structure" would have to meet certain Criteria, ala "Terraria". Need a Door, closed fully closed in walls, a bed perhaps....a Roof.

What if block protection disappeared after a week or two of inactivity? Then other players could claim the attractive structures and reuse the trash. You could even attach a fee to grabbing unclaimed blocks to cut down on griefing (i.e. 50% of shop price). The world would definitely be prettier with fewer random blocks floating around.

Also being able to see where your tiles are on the world map would be nice. Maybe toddle on/off a red heat map of their location.

I suggest two months out of town.
I suggest the tiles go back into the owners inventory.
I also liked the idea of the tiles first looking decayed(they would snap back if the user logged on) and LawyerCats can spawn near decayed blocks.

They had a system similar to this in Wurm Online and quite frankly it was a mess. It caused many low level players much distress because they didn't have the resources to keep repairing or keeping up their buildings. It also was an annoyance for higher level players or players who have built something they would like to be kept. You constantly had to waste resources in order to repair something that you never wanted gone. Also, if you take a break from the game for too long all your accomplishments are quite literally turned to dust.
However, I would say that there is an extreme amount of clutter especially without a way of removing blocks many are just discarded in random spots it seems making building around them impossible. Maybe only blocks outside of towns are removed, or blocks that were set by people who were only active a short while (incoming newbies of a couple days) and have not been on for several months. But for the active players, decay systems are either an extreme burden or very crippling to new players.

I'll tell you what should decay though. Fucking cities that have nothing in them at all for over a week. I suggest putting some kind of fail safe on that. If empty for 3 days return to owners inventory. A city should have at least 50 blocks in it before the fail safe ignores it. Or something along that line.

I agree that there should be a way to clean up the clutter but I don't agree this is the way to go. It would simply be too hard to tell the game what should decay.

Well, signs should stay up....and roads....perhaps if "linked" to your structure with a "link" command for signs..IDK but you get the idea.
